Gesso!!!

Today was different. I had a pretty reasonable sleep but watched the sun rise quietly not making too much noise  at around 6.am .My day had been planned but the new friend offering me a ride to Victoria told me that her class was cancelled today so we would not go to downtown  after all. Never mind- i decided i would permission myself to read the novel "Still Life "by Louise Penny that i am enjoying. I cannot recall the last time that i read a novel so this is a luxury. The novel was randomly picked from the family book shelf and shortly after, on the same day, Kate suggested it!!! The author is Canadian so it matches the theme of the retreat !!!๐Ÿ˜

So to read  a novel on the sofa on a Sunday morning is literally a new experience for me and everyone who cares about their personal health and state of mind should ensure that this activity is prioritised. However, I was allowing for procrastination because I had almost written a large post-it note to stick in a prominent place to say "Computer Clean up URGENT" that was the TO-DO Priority of the day.

After several pages as the novel unfolded and wrapped me in a comfy blanket, i napped to make up for not enough sleep THEN i started the very arduous task of trying to edit and trash files. If anyone has a simple and creative way or organising this project in a resourceful way, please let me know asap. I am sure someone is telling me that there is app for that. I am slowly catching  on to you tube and apps !!!

As i considered breakfast as a possibility I was inspired again by looking at the wine glass and its shadow that i tried to photo a few days a go. As i surveyed its potential, i referenced Beth's great shot called"Bourbon" that should be seen however possible. Hopefully she will see that i have some potential as i study the shapes and shadows that are so cleverly captured in "Bourbon"

The day was sunny and bright but nippy and i also promised myself that I would begin today with the gesso process of my newly cut canvas, now in four 36" squares. Bracing myself for the cold garage studio, I actually did the first of 3 coats.

  1. Bravo on the gessoing, but even more on reading Louise Penny. Still Life is so smart, but Penny gets better with each subsequent book. Read them all!

Enjoy and allow yourself to just be. ๐Ÿ’•

  2. Yay, I can comment again!

You’ll perhaps learn quickly that YouTube is a great way to learn lots/ waste lots of valuable time haha!

And you’ve inspired me to enjoy catching up on my reading this weekend vs feeling guilty for not doing something more productive with that time.
