just checking in
My main news today is that I read in the newspaper, at the cafe. where i had coffee and muffin prior to Figure Drawing , that British Columbia has had 125 days of dry weather which is the longest on record. Meanwhile, most of the readers of this blog are still experiencing freezing temperatures in the southern USA. My newspaper read also mentioned that Canada is ramping up border security and this international boundary is the least secure in the world - to date.
So figure drawing morning included the absence of the amazing model so we all took turns posing in 5 minute short poses and paid 1/2 the fee. . The best thing about today was that i got a ride home with another whose name i have not learned how to pronounce or spell but she is from SOUTH Korea (south she was determined to say as if one might question North or South?) . Her author daughter has recently been at VCCA Amherst , VA on a writers retreat.-small world. Also met a Scotsman with whom we shared the sense of referring to home as somewhere special and not this side of the pond.
There is a small but well stocked store next to ART Pod that must be feeling a big pinch with the loss of the customers to the new and much larger grocery store that i walk to for grocery shopping. However, this store is like those that serve a small community and stocks bit of everything. So i was able to buy 2 sheets of sandpaper AND a jar of the rare and wonderful Branston Pickle, a British favourite. While on topic of what shops sell -Yesterday I went to the pharmacy thinking i would find greeting cards . But not a single card, lipstick, seasonal decorative item, not a photo centre , not a food isle and no childrens toys !! This pharmacy only sells drugs and medicinal stuff, so that was a wake-up call. Even the grocery store did not have Get-well cards in their slim collection so i resorted to making my own card .
After the morning of drawing and meeting new people , i used the afternoon to do some garden tidying and put the second coat of gesso on two canvases.
The large pan of soup i made yesterday was enough for 3 days so this was day 2. Very tasty but i need to check the price of that parsnip before i buy another.

How much is a parsnip?
ReplyDeleteI’m wondering the same as Kate!
ReplyDeleteAlso wondering about parsnip price … and do we need to ship you some lipstick, children’s toys, and photo developer?
